Revolutionizing construction with cutting-edge technology: Big Island Region’s Nohea at Mauna Lani II Project

GBI Big Island Region’s Nohea at Mauna Lani II

GBI’s Big Island Region recently completed the Nohea at Mauna Lani II project in the resort community of Mauna Lani. This ambitious endeavor kicked off in January 2023 and completed construction in the fall of 2023.

Located within the serene Mauna Lani resort community, Nohea at Mauna Lani II is thoughtfully developed, with most of it already occupied by tenants and homeowners. This residential development introduces 80 new units available for rent, providing a boost to the local economy.

GBI Big Island Region’s Nohea at Mauna Lani IIGBI’s scope of work covered a broad spectrum of tasks, including mass grading, paving, and the installation of crucial infrastructure like sewer, water, and electrical systems. However, the primary challenge for GBI lay not in the technical aspects of construction but in preserving the tranquil essence of the resort community. To address this, GBI took proactive measures to keep community members and the Mauna Lani Resort Association well-informed about all construction activities. Throughout the project’s life cycle, GBI maintained transparent and open communication with all stakeholders, ensuring that everyone remained informed. The dedicated project team tirelessly adhered to the schedule, emphasizing GBI’s technical expertise, reliability, and commitment to the local community.

In addition, GBI’s Advanced Construction Technology group introduced a cutting-edge 3-dimensional scanning software known as Pix4D. This user-friendly phone application utilizes existing mobile hardware to capture and store 3D models. Initially, the Nohea project team beta-tested this software; its user-friendly interface, coupled with its versatility, made it an indispensable tool for day-to-day project operations. It enabled the team to make highly precise daily quantity calculations, take field measurements from safe distances, and create 2D and 3D images for as-built purposes.

GBI worked closely with developer, Silagi Development and Management to ensure compliance with regulations, adherence to building codes, and timely permit acquisition to achieve project success. Here’s what the client had to say upon project completion:

  • GBI performed accurate estimates, asked sincere questions, and coordinated very well with engineering disciplines.
  • GBI’s initial presentation gave the client the confidence that GBI truly wanted to give them the best product possible.
  • GBI is at the top of the industry in their total package delivery, quality of workmanship, and their customer service responsiveness.
