Situation
This project was part of an initiative to improve athletic fields throughout Evergreen School District. At Union High School, two existing softball fields and one baseball field were upgraded to all-weather turf fields, along with a multi-purpose field that is used for baseball, soccer, and football practices. The project also involved the addition of stadium lights to each of the fields, as well as the school’s tennis courts.
Solution
GBI’s scope of work included the stripping and removal of topsoil, grading of the subgrade, placing turf aggregate with all associated flatwork, and completing the fencing and electrical for all four athletic fields. The project plans called for a construction access point off a busy roadway behind a Costco warehouse; GBI moved the access point onsite to avoid traffic congestion and to minimize the number of pedestrians crossing the haul roads. GBI completed this project on schedule, which was very important, as several home games had been scheduled to be played on the fields once construction was complete.
Notable
During the project, GBI made efforts to reduce traffic disruptions in the area around the school. This ensured that students had uninterrupted access to their summer activities. In addition, GBI also ensured that the nearby Costco warehouse received and sent out goods without any interruptions. This attention to detail was crucial in ensuring the smooth and uninterrupted operations of both the school and the warehouse.
