Situation
GBI is the sitework general contractor on the Ten Trails master-planned community project. The development brings residential, commercial, retail, educational, and recreational spaces to the City of Black Diamond.
We realized that not everyone in this small, tight-knit community is fond of the idea of development and growth, so this was a concern we addressed going forward.
Solution
Our general scope of work included clearing and grubbing, mass grading, installation of sewer, water, storm, gas, power, communications systems, and fine grading and installation of curbs, roadways, sidewalks, planter areas, parks, and open spaces.
We constructed a 4.5 million-gallon stormwater holding pond and a 10.4 million-gallon infiltration pond supporting the entire community. We also built two decorative roundabouts, which serve as the main access points to the development, as well as multiple offsite improvements including duel water mains, a pedestrian bridge, and sidewalk improvements that connect the new development to the established part of town.
Notable
It was extremely important to us to be a good neighbor and build relationships with the local community. Our goal was to offer support wherever possible. To that end, we made contributions to neighborhood events, fixed potholes at the community center, provided firewood to homes and businesses, and offered free street sweeping and snow removal services throughout the year.
