Situation

Stanly Ranch is a luxury resort and residential community located on the southern edge of Napa, California. The 93-acre property has 135 cottages, a spa, three swimming pools, a banquet barn for special events, a bridal building for weddings, and a restaurant. It also has an outdoor yoga space, coffee shop, a wine tasting room, and an integrated four-acre vineyard situated among the buildings.

Solution

This project broke ground in the fall of 2018 and transitioned to underground utilities the following summer. After the rough grade work was completed, underground utilities were installed and GBI constructed building pads, finished the concrete flatwork, and completed the roads and parking lots. Additionally, GBI built a new bike path on the property and repaired an existing offsite path that connects the resort to nearby Highway 29. The wide-open, undulating site made drainage and the construction of the building pads challenging, but the GBI project team viewed this as an opportunity to provide valuable feedback regarding the pad locations, as well as the design of the utilities. Throughout the project, the GBI team offered its expertise and insights to keep costs down, while simultaneously delivering a quality product.
