Situation
In response to the devastating 2020 California wildfires, GBI’s California Region teamed up in a joint venture to perform fire debris and tree removal throughout six counties north of the Bay Area: Lake, Mendocino, Napa, Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo Counties. The Inland Branch Fire Cleanup project was part of a statewide effort initiated by the California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery’s (CalRecycle) Disaster Debris Recovery Operations program, which works with local governments to clean up after disasters like wildfires and mudslides.
Solution
GBI’s scope of work included the removal of approximately 19,000 burned trees and the cleanup of nearly 700 home sites to enable homeowners to rebuild on their properties. GBI’s team employed hundreds of workers, as well as a large fleet of equipment and trucks to remove and haul more than 300,000 tons of burned debris and trees.
