Situation
Expansion was necessary at the Honokaa Wastewater Treatment Plant to comply with a new EPA mandate requiring that all residents abandon individual cesspools.
Solution
GBI excavated 8,000 cubic yards of rock to create a second treatment cell at the plant. Additionally, we installed 3,200 linear feet of sanitary sewer pipeline as well as three new injection wells, 15 precast structures, and 2,000 linear feet of electrical conduit. GBI graded more than 70,000 square feet, installed the HDPE liner for the treatment cell, and provided a new motor control center and backup generator to power eight aerators as part of the treatment process.
Notable
Contract was completed with minimal change orders. Fabrication and installation of stainless steel fixtures and metals occurred onsite.
