Situation
Located in Sherman County, Oregon, this wind farm project was developed in the heart of Oregon’s wheat country to help expand renewable energy generation in the Pacific Northwest. Wind energy remains one of the cleanest forms of power generation during operation and plays an important role in advancing sustainable energy solutions and reducing carbon emissions.
Solution
Goodfellow Bros. provided heavy civil construction services in support of the general contractor responsible for turbine erection. Scope of work included excavation and backfill for 51 turbine foundations, along with the construction of approximately 1.5-acre level laydown areas at each turbine location to support crane assembly and equipment staging.
In addition, GBI constructed approximately 22 miles of turbine access and string roads, placing more than 130,000 tons of crushed rock throughout the project. Rock production for the project was managed by GBI through operations at a local quarry. Overall, the project involved the excavation, movement, and reclamation of nearly one million cubic yards of rock and soil.

This project marked the 16th wind farm successfully completed by GBI within the Oregon region, further demonstrating the company’s extensive experience delivering large-scale renewable energy infrastructure projects.
