After 13 years of anticipation and delays, the Liberty Ranch subdivision in Galt, California, is finally becoming a reality.
On June 8, city leaders and developers celebrated the groundbreaking of the ambitious Eastview/Liberty Ranch residential development project, marking a significant milestone for the community. This expansive project, in the works since 2010, promises to reshape the landscape of northeast Galt, bringing with it nearly 1,500 single-family homes and a range of amenities.
Stretching across 150 acres of land, this development is one of the largest master-planned subdivisions in the history of Galt. Strategically located near Liberty Ranch High School, its borders are defined by Marengo Road to the west, Twin Cities Road to the north, Cherokee Lane to the east, and the Union Pacific railroad spur to the south.
GBI’s California Region couldn’t be more excited about this monumental undertaking. With construction beginning in July of 2023, GBI aims to complete the project by May of 2024, barring any unforeseen weather-related challenges.
One of the most notable aspects of the project is its commitment to environmental conservation and habitat expansion. GBI’s involvement includes an ambitious expansion of an animal habitat that encompasses a staggering 700,000 square feet. This expanded habitat is designed to benefit turtles, frogs, beavers, and a variety of fish species. To further support these ecosystems, numerous reclaimed oak logs will be strategically placed within the area to provide essential resources and support for the native species.
The Liberty Ranch project was made possible by the dedication and expertise of a diverse project team; each member has played a crucial role in bringing this vision to life. The project team includes Project Executive Frank Auguston, Area Manager Kent Adams, Project Manager Austin Fouts, Project Engineer Anders Hartman, Superintendent Jose Duran, Superintendent Carlos Nunez, and Project Foreman Anthony Guadagnolo.
Phases 1 and 2 are packed with impressive highlights that showcase the scale and ambition of this development. Those highlights include 532 lots, 3.8 million square feet of Precompact, 400,000 cubic yards of cut, 1.3 million square feet of basin fine grade, 620,000 square feet of open space, and sewer lines stretching 9,400 linear feet. Other highlights include storm drainage extending 8,500 linear feet, water supply lines spanning 7,600 linear feet, the installation of three box culverts, 52,000 tons of aggregate base, and 12,500 tons of asphalt concrete.
The Liberty Ranch Subdivision will not only provide much-needed housing in the Galt area, but also contribute to the preservation and expansion of vital local habitats. As this massive project takes shape over the coming months, it will undoubtedly be a source of excitement and anticipation for residents and environmental enthusiasts alike. Galt’s future looks brighter than ever with the Liberty Ranch project leading the way.
