The GBI Oregon Region proudly completed its second year participating in the iconic Providence Hood To Coast Relay, also known as the “Mother of All Relays.” Teams from across the globe come together to raise awareness and crucial funds for life-saving cancer research through Providence Health. The event attracts participants from every U.S. state and over 40 countries.
The Oregon team achieved an incredible milestone, securing 3rd place in the #FinishCancer campaign with an outstanding $26,403 raised by generous sponsors. These funds will directly support innovative cancer research and treatment programs, creating a lasting impact on the fight against cancer.
“The Providence Hood To Coast Relay is a testament to the power of teamwork, resilience, and community spirit,” said Oregon Division President, Joe Correy. “I couldn’t be prouder of our team. From the early morning start on Mt. Hood to the triumphant finish at the Pacific Ocean, each member displayed an inspiring level of dedication. Our success this year wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our sponsors, families, and the entire GBI community.”
The 196-mile relay began at 4:00 am on Friday, August 23rd, with each team member running three legs of approximately 5 miles each. Braving an unexpected downpour at the start, the Oregon team pressed on with enthusiasm and determination. After nearly 33 hours, they crossed the finish line in Seaside, Oregon, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, smiling and celebrating their victory as a team.
