On June 10, 2021, the General Contractors Association (GCA) of Hawaii hosted a limited seating award ceremony in their parking lot for the 2021 Safety Awards with the theme “United for Safety.”
The GCA Safety Awards is a subset of the National Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Safety Awards, which recognizes companies that have achieved a ‘Zero Incidence Rate,’ meaning no workdays lost, or that have an incidence rate 25 percent below each occupational division’s average for 2019. Awardees are recognized based on their number of hours worked without incidence per project type: Building, Highway, Federal & Heavy, Utility Infrastructure, or Associates/Specialty.
This year, Goodfellow Bros. was honored to receive a GCA Safety Award for Best in Category and Zero Incident Rate in the category of Utility Infrastructure $250,000 and up.
“This last year brought a great deal of new challenges amid a pandemic and rapidly changing work environments. In times such as these, it is critical that we can adapt, learn, and support our safety programs,” said Ed Brown, Hawaii division president for GBI. “Receiving this award is a testament to our team and their ability to overcome obstacles and recognize our continued responsibility to provide a safe work environment for all. I want to thank our Hawaii team for their relentless pursuit to keep our GBI Ohana safe every day. MAKA’ALA (Stay Alert Stay Alive).”
