GBI Honors Eight Legacy Award Recipients

At GBI’s Annual Meeting in Lake Tahoe, CA, the company celebrated the remarkable contributions of various employees and retirees by presenting eight Legacy Awards. “This year’s honorees embody the spirit of the Legacy Awards. Their enduring impact and dedication have significantly advanced our mission to be the contractor of choice,” remarked Chad Goodfellow.

Among the awardees, Darren Wilhoit and retiree Kaiwi Place received the Dale Moore Goodfellow Way Legacy Award for exemplifying “The Goodfellow Way.” Kaiwi is known for his frontline leadership and mastery in all aspects of GBI’s operations. Similarly, Darren, Vice President of GBI’s Bay Area operations, is celebrated for his approachable and supportive leadership style and his unwavering commitment to team development.

Superintendent Dave Gaub was honored with the Bud Junger Field First Award for his dedication to GBI’s craft employees and field operations. Known for prioritizing his crews, Dave ensures the highest standards of safety and integrity, maintaining a calm demeanor even under challenging conditions.

Foreman Keith Mocan received the 2024 Bill Gates Customer Service Award, recognized for his exceptional service, particularly with the Oregon Zoo. Keith’s deep connections and proactive engagement are truly an inspiration, and his leadership has been pivotal in maintaining GBI’s presence on various projects within the Oregon region.

The Jim Goodfellow Sr. Community Service Award was presented to two distinguished recipients. Retired Corporate Secretary Cindy Beattie was celebrated for her three decades of compassionate service and community engagement at GBI. Additionally, the Maui Fire Fighting Leadership Team—Morris Ah Nee, Joe Dickson, and Al Ostermiller—were recognized for their heroic efforts during the devastating Maui fires in August, playing critical roles in both emergency response and ongoing recovery efforts.
